20 september 2017 - Singapore, Singapore

Hello guys,

A long time no see. First I did not wanted to write another story here because I want to make a new blog about my travelling. But a lot of people want to know what I'm up to and when I'm coming back to the Netherlands! So here I am, again.

My last blog was about Vietnam. And I loved it. The people, the weather, the culture, everything is so nice about Vietnam. Well, maybe not everything. People see you as a moneybank and want to help you for money. I don't blame them though. The people there don't earn any money. They get like $150 a month! A month... That's why travelling is so cheap as well. For $1 you have a good meal and for $3 you have an hotelroom. It's kind of sad when you think about it. For us, the travellers, it's nice, because we can save money and live cheap and the circumstances are still good. In Australia my hostel was already $230 a week. It's weird that there is so much difference between countries.

My next adventure was Thailand. I spent 3 weeks in the north and really enjoyed it. I did not really liked Bangkok, but it was much nicer then I expected. I always think about the movie ' The hangover'  when I think about Bangkok. After Bangkok I went to Kanchanaburi. The  Deathrailway lays here. It's a railway that was built during the war and goes from Thailand to Birma (Myanmar). A lot of Dutch and English people died here because of the bad circumstances. I learnt, that if you're travelling, you have to like history. You're going to different cultures and countries and want to learn about the history because then you can understand the people and their culture.

One of my favourite parts in Thailand was the Elephant sanctuary. I was able to touch, feed and bath elephants. First I did not wanted to do it because in Thailand a lot of elephants are getting used for a tourrist attraction. I was happy with the place I went and have not seen anything that hurted the elephants. Unfortunately I can't say that about every place. A lot of people from my hostel have seen abuse during their tour. It's sad. Really sad.

Pai, a little small hippie town in the north. A hell of a road to get there. 762 curves!!! So hell yeah I took a plastic bag with me. The minivans drive fast so you have to hold on to stay seated. When I got to Pai I was sick, so it was literally a hell for me. Pai is beautifull. There are a lot of things to visit. Just rent a scooter and go! After Pai I had 1 week left in Thailand and wanted to spent this in the South. I flew to Phuket, boring! After 1 day I took the boot to Phi Phi and that was amazing! Well, the first day because the 3 days after I layed in bed with food poisoning. And do you know what made it worse? My visa was running out so I had a few days left to get to Malaysia. You should have seen me walking, a white zombie with a plastic back. I got an antibiotic treatment from the pharmacy and it went better each day. Lukely, because my dad already called the insurance in the Netherlands so I could speek with a doctor and maybe had to go to hospital. You could say, he was worried. Daddy's little girl.

After my food poisoning I was so tired. No energy. So my trip in Malaysia was on an easy going level. Australia, Vietnam and Thailand was on. Every day you're on the road, seeing things, going to bed late and get up early. Yes guys, backpacking is not really chilling at the beach all day. I can't even remember the last day I chilled on the beach. Malaysia is a beautifull country. I went to the cameron highlands where I walked, walked and walked. Easy going level huh? Well I just spent here a week and walked every other day. After Cameron Highlands I went to Taman Negara. This is the second oldest rainforest in the world and it's amazing. The only thing what I did not liked where the fucking leeches. EVERYWHERE! The first one on my skin was terrible and I run to my tourguide. The second one as well. And then I just stared to get angry so I got rid off ever leech by myself.

So, you could say I was happy to leave and go to Kuala Lumpur. A clean and nice city! I booked a nice hostel with swimmingpool, a gym and finally good Wi-fi. Yes, I watched netflix the first 2 days. I don't care. I enjoyed it. I have to take it easy, beacuse my knee is hurting the last few weeks/months and I need my energy for the final backpack adventure, Indonesia with my dad! At the moment I'm in Singapore, a beautifull city! In a few days I'm going back to Kuala Lumpur because my flight is next week. Indonesia it is! I'm so excited to finally see my dad again! One more week and my 'final' adventure is going to start and you guys at home see me in 4.5 weeks!! Final is a weird word to say. Final for now. I know I want to travel again but let's get home first.

Liz
